Living area townhouse extension
Why? This house underwent a complete renovation just a year prior to Scenario’s involvement. Like many period houses, the lower ground floor was dark and accommodated the kitchen. The main sitting areas, as intended in Victorian times, were located on the ground floor. This is clearly not suitable for most of today’s family lifestyles, where the heart of the house is in and around the kitchen. Our clients wished to extend the kitchen level, to create a spacious living and entertaining area and better connection to the garden. The project had to be completed within a strict budget and local planning restrictions.
The new extension is only one and a half meters deep but it completely transforms the space creating a large open space living area, seamlessly flowing outdoors to the deck and garden. A feature wall integrated within the lightweight glazed extension subtly defines the living space and allows a certain level of privacy while watching TV. The Audio Visual equipment housed in the lower part of the feature wall, is ‘pushing’ outwards and up a segment of the deck, forming a hardwood wooden bench facing the garden
‘They (Scenario) managed to exceed our expectations at every step of the process. They are tenacious when dealing with suppliers and contractors, which took a lot of the stress out of the project. The end result is that we have an amazing looking and functional result that was delivered pretty much on time and budget’
